Diamonds certificates come from several labs which examine a stone and describe it on their reports. The certificate is merely a description of the stone. It does not ensure quality. All major lab reports say, “This certificate is NOT an appraisal, guarantee, or warranty.”
A Diamond certificate will describe the carat weight, cut, color, and clarity of a stone. In addition, the table and depth percentages will be shown, as well the polish and symmetry of the stone. If the stone is fluorescent that will be noted.
Diamond grading is not a science. It simply reports the professional opinion of that particular grader at that particular time. Sometimes, even within a lab, there is a range of opinions on grades. The same stone can get two different grades!
When selling your Diamond having a certificate helps the buyer determine value. But it is not the most important thing. How your stone looks in person is. Our expert buyer will take the time to test and fully examine your stone. He will look at color, clarity, cut, and carat weight to determine our best offer.
